The Tatzsuon and Gieschsuon is caught in the Jolibach river not far from the mountain chalet. Directly above the Jolialp hut they flow calmly westward, covers the demand of the Alp personnel, and serves livestock for drinking. The fatal accident of Hans Bregy and Johann Josef Bregy in 1393 shows how dangerous the maintenance of the irrigation channels was. Their name is commemorated with the year on a cross in the rock.
The distributor of Tatzsuon and Gieschsuon, the Gieschsuon along the Luegilchi, the catchment of Brägjieru and the section Hohtenn were restored in 2003. The costs amounted to CHF 180.000.-. The expenses were covered by the Canton of Valais, the Federal Government, the Swiss Landscape Fund and the municipalities Hohtenn and Niedergesteln.
