Lake Bachalp

The lake Bachalp (also Bachsee), in which Schreckhorn , Finsteraarhorn and the Fiescherhörner are reflected on sunny days, is a popular destination. The basin of the small artificial lake actually serves as a reservoir for power generation for the hydropower plant Isch, which is situated near the village Grindelwald. The power plant produces annually around six million kilowatt hours electricity, equivalent to approximately 13.5 % of the required power in Grindelwald.
