At an altitude of 962 meters, this beautiful lake lies in the middle of the Poschiavo Valley, surrounded by mountains. The lake is a natural reservoir within the Poschiavino River. With its calm and clear surface, the surrounding mountains are reflected like in a mirror. A short walk from the Le Prese station on the Bernina line of the Rhaetian Railway brings you to the northern end of the lake. A short walk along the lakeside promenade, parallel to the Bernina Railway, brings you to the southern end of the lake, to the Miralago station, which means "view of the lake." From Miralago, at the northern end of the lake, the view of Piz Varuna (3453m) in the Bernina massif to the northwest is breathtaking. The best time to visit is spring or autumn, when the snow on the famous peaks in the background glistens and the trees around the lake are in full bloom.
