Programme suggestion to discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps" in one day.
10:00 to 12:00 Lake Route
If you walk from Saint-Blaise (NE) or Neuchâtel (20 - 40 minutes) alongside the borders of lake Neuchâtel, you will reach the Laténium museum and archaeological park by the lake path! When you arrive at Laténium, you can admire the archaeological park: Pile dwellings, Roman ships, paintings from the Stone Age and much more! For families, there are games and a playground.
12:00 to 14:00 Short break with a panoramic view
The Café des Laténiums is open simultaneously with the museum. It offers a pleasant place with a great lake view to have a coffee or share a meal.
14:00 to 16:00 Five Hundred - Centuries of History
Borrow an audio guide at the entrance to the museum and go on a voyage of discovery of the pile dwellers, the folk who settled the shores of Lake Neuchâtel in prehistoric times.
17:00 A night on the water - like the pile dwellers
Spend a night on the water, in the beautiful surroundings of the Hotel Palafitte, just a few steps away from the Laténium. Experience what it must have been like to live as a pile dweller!
