Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes

Stage 4: Via Albula/Bernina, Bergün - Preda

   Stage 4 of: Via Albula/Bernina

The unique long-distance hiking trail Via Albula/Bernina runs along the UNESCO World Heritage RhB line. In 10 stages, it covers 131 kilometres on foot from Thusis to Tirano through three language and cultural regions. Sights such as the spectacular Landwasser Viaduct near Filisur, the helical tunnels between Bergün and Preda, old railway stations and the circular viaduct in Brusio can be admired at close quarters. The varied Alpine landscape is a special feast for the eyes.

Stage 4
The railway runs from Bergün to Preda through a true masterpiece of engineering. The mountain hiking trail, which has the most daring routing here, crosses the railway line several times. Information boards along the hiking stage of the Railway Adventure Trail Albula provide an exciting insight into the world of railways, technology, culture and everyday life of the Rhaetian Railway - and the people in the Albula Valley.
