The cascade of the Reichenbach Falls is 300 m high and consists of seven waterfalls. The uppermost Reichenbach fall is the largest. In summer time 3-5 m³/s water thunder over 120 meters down to the valley, after a strong storm even up to 30 m³/s. During the winter months the water of the falls is redirected and feeds a power station.
The uppermost Reichenbach fall is also known from the dramatic short story "The Final Problem / Sherlock Holmes" by Arthur Conan Doyle. The Reichenbach falls are also quoted in the last episode of the series Dr. House ("Last act: Reichenbach Falls"), when House - similar to his idol Sherlock Holmes – simulates his death in order to disappear.
