Museum of fossils in Meride

On four floors, the great diversity of creatures that populated the sea and its coast in southern Ticino between 247 and 237 million years ago is presented. Thanks to virtual and augmented reality, you can immerse yourself in the Triassic Sea at the Fossil Museum and admire the animals of that time. A visit to our area and the Fossil Museum will allow you to discover the fascination of a world long extinct. Monte San Giorgio is one of the most important fossil deposits in the Middle Triassic world. The fossils of the mountain, known for their diversity and exceptional state of preservation, have been excavated by palaeontologists since 1850.
