Giltsteiloch

Refractory stones, especially soapstone were and are still used for their good heath storage capacity for furnace construction. Above the hamlet Hegdorn is a man-made crevice where this popular stone was mined. Below was a talc lens, which has been commercially exploited. For this purpose a transport cable car from Natterloch East to the “Gillsteiloch” was built in 1922.
