The UNESCO World Heritage properties in Switzerland open their doors and invite you into the world of our Heritage with unique experiences!
Would you like to learn more about UNESCO World Heritage in Switzerland? Follow in the footsteps of our Heritage on the weekend of 08th and 09th of June 2024! The World Heritage Days offer unique insights into the diverse natural and cultural treasures of Switzerland and allow views that are otherwise often denied to visitors.
During the World Heritage Days, the Monte San Giorgio Fossil Museum is organising the activity "A Sunday for Palaeontologists". The programme includes a hike, educational activities for children at the Acqua del Ghiffo palaeontological site and a visit to the Carpanee classroom, a fascinating open-air museum in the middle of the forest where fossils and reconstructions of animals from 240 million years ago can be admired. The children can also try their hand at the work of a palaeontologist and learn how an excavation works.
Distance approx. 45 minutes (3 km, difference in altitude 60 m)
Suitable clothing for a hike on footpaths is recommended.
The hike will be cancelled in case of rain.
