Would you like to learn more about UNESCO World Heritage in Switzerland? Follow in the footsteps of our Heritage on the weekend of 10th and 11th June 2023! The World Heritage Days offer unique insights into the diverse natural and cultural treasures of Switzerland and allow views that are otherwise often closed to visitors.
On the 11th of June 2023, the Convent of St. John in Müstair will not only celebrate 40 years as a UNESCO World Heritage property but also the World Heritage Days! Besides traditional activities such as the liturgy of the Benedictine nuns, the following awaits you:
Various free guided tours (Convent St. John)
Guided tour of the church with Prof. Dr Bernd Nicolai: A House of St. Charles - 1200 years of imagery and its built setting (45 minutes, start at 11:00)
Guided tour of the Holy Cross Chapel (50 minutes, start at 12:00, 13:00, 14:45, 15:45)
Guided tour of the church and monastery museum (90 minutes, start at 12:15, 13:45,14:00)
Guided tour to wall paintings in the central apse (30 minutes, start at 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 15:45)
SCHAU! Guided tour through the archaeological archive (50 minutes, start at 12:00, 14:00, 15:30)
Family activities (Plaz Grond)
Diverse hands-on programs for the entire family are offered from 12:00 to 17:30 on Plaz Grond:
Play cubes: Make your own wooden dice and test historical dice games.
Sgraffito Workshop: Learn the craft of sgraffito.
Open painting workshop: Add colour to historical motifs with coloured pencils

Concert (Convent St. John)
A concert by Eva-Maria Burkhart (cello) and Stephan Britt (clarinet) will take place in the convent's church from 18:00 to 19:00.
The tours and lectures offered are free of charge. Registration via visit-museum@muestair.ch or on the day of the event is required at the monastery shop. The number of participants for the guided tours is limited.
