Programme suggestion to discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch" in one day.
The WNF is the visitor centre of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch" and is considered the most modern museum in the Alps. Here the spirit of research is awakened in young and old with impressive films, interactive experience stations and the latest technology. The WNF deals with the processes surrounding the formation and change of the Alps as well as the climatic challenges and fascinates explorers of all ages. A two-hour tour of the exhibition is the perfect way to start a day in the UNESCO World Heritage property "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch".
Good to know: The exhibition at the WNF is closed every Monday! Find out more here!
From Tuesday to Friday, the Jungfrau-Aletsch Restaurant in the WNF offers a freshly prepared menu. For CHF 22.-, guests receive a starter, a main course and an alcohol-free drink. At around 13:00, visitors are recommended to continue their journey towards the Eggishorn: 13:23 from Brig railway station.
At the Eggishorn viewpoint in the Aletsch Arena, visitors are treated to the finest World Heritage panorama: From here you can see not only the entire 20 kilometres of the Great Aletsch Glacier but also the Konkordiaplatz as well as the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In addition, on the highest of the four View Points (2869 m above sea level) is the sign of the "Grand Tour of Switzerland" by Switzerland Tourism, which is an excellent photo spot. The View Point Eggishorn is easily accessible by cable car from Fiescheralp. If you are hungry or thirsty, you can get something to eat at the Horli-Hitta. There are opportunities to return to Brig station every twenty minutes.
Recommendation: Take the cable car at 15:30, the last ride is at 16:10.
