Starting in the main part of the village of Bellwald, with its rustic village centre, this history-packed walk takes you through the lanes of Bellwald and onwards across lush meadows to Ried.
From there, the trail descends to Egga, passing well-preserved cultivated landscapes. In Bellwald, the hamlet of Egga has been preserved in its most original state. It has four dwelling houses, with their associated granaries, barns and stables, clustered in a very small area, along with the Kapelle Mariä Krönung (Chapel of the Coronation of the Virgin Mary), located directly in the centre. The number of buildings suggests that four families lived in the original hamlet of Egga.
Next, this beautiful route descends to the hamlet of Bodma, with Rhonetal and Fieschertal always in sight. Finally, the steep trail, which was once used by merchants with pack animals, returns to Bellwald.
