From Riederalp West station you hike up to Riederfurka, to the starting point of the themed trail at Villa Cassel. At the beginning of the 20th century, the imposing villa served as the sophisticated summer residence of the Anglo-German banker Sir Ernest Cassel and his distinguished guests from the realms of nobility and high finance.
The themed trail provides insights into their lives and tells stories from the time when members of the Anglo-German upper class spent their summer holidays on Riederfurka. The Cassel Trail is a circular trail that takes you around Riederhorn in about an hour. There are only a few uphill sections to tackle, but some parts of the trail are a little exposed.
If you are looking for a rewarding finish to the circular hike, you can climb the Riederhorn in around 30 minutes.
