This hike starts at Grimsel Hospiz, which opened in 1932, and follows the Grims Crystal Trail. This themed trail takes you through one of the richest mineral areas in the Alps and teaches you a lot of interesting facts about crystals. The Grims Crystal Trail is a mountain trail that is not suitable for small children or pushchairs, but kids will enjoy the children’s book «Grims – Ein Ausreisser auf dem Kristallweg» (Grims – A Maverick on the Crystal Trail), which is available in bookshops.
Continue past Lake Räterichsboden, where you will find a large rest area with a barbecue. Afterwards, cross the historic bridges that merchants once used to cross with their pack animals to reach Hotel Handeck. The route continues along the legendary ViaSbrinz pack trail. The buildings from the the era of these pack-trail merchants really catch the eye. The route was once used to transport cheese as far as Piedmont, which is reflected in the fact that the route has the cheese Sbrinz in its name. Next, the route continues down towards the valley, through the mountain landscape shaped by the Aare Glacier, to Guttannen,
