Hike along the Lötschberg southern approach

This gorgeous hike, which is also suitable for families with children, takes you along the BLS Lötschberg mountain line, which is more than 100 years old, from Hohtenn to Ausserberg. You can also continue to Naters and Brig.

Europe's first railway hiking trail will captivate you with its Alpine and southern vegetation, the Suonen (irrigation channels), the spectacular railway buildings and far-reaching views, as well as its comfortable seating areas and exciting information boards and viewpoints.

The hike starts at Steg-Hohtenn, then passes above the hamlet of Lidu to the Jolibach, before continuing through the oak forest to Rarnerchumma. After the Bietschbach, the trail follows the Manera Suone to Ausserberg via Biegstatt.
