Factory - Rue des Tilleuls 2

In 1854, the renowned watch manufacturer Constant Girard married Marie Perregaux, the daughter of a maker of chronometers in Le Locle. This was the birth of the compagny Girard-Perregaux, which is still active in La Chaux-de-Fonds today, in the top quality watch secto. In 1904, the compagny moved to premises built for it by architect Sylvius Pittet, one rue des Tilleuls 2. The administrative part of the building is somewhat flamboyant, and the workshops have the typically large windows that form a key element of buildings in the industry.
