Hamlet Egga (Blatten)

The hamlet nestles like a swallow in a gentle semicircle on the eastern shore of a now boggy lake on the hillside. The gable of the buildings, respectively, follow the gradient of the slope, which gives the settlement a great attractiveness. The Great Aletsch glacier has deposited here a huge moraine, which solidified by the growth of pioneer plants and allowed the development of a hillside lake. A lack of water supply and the cultivation by the mountain people on the edge of the hamlet in the eastern part of the 170 meter long and 100 meter wide plane let growing the bog in the lake.
