In Bergün, the old mountain pass village, a station was built that included a wayside station building, a trackman's house, a trackman's hut, a locomotive shed, and a water crane for refueling locomotives. These buildings were not unique at the time; rather, they followed the standard models of the Rhaetian Railway.
The trackman's hut, used as temporary accommodation, was typically built as a wooden structure with a floor area of 2.5 m × 3.2 m and equipped with a table, bed, cupboard, and stove. The trackman's house was somewhat more comfortable, constructed as a log building with an attached small livestock stall.
In Bergün, both the trackman's hut and house still stand today, and like the station in Filisur, Bergün also has a locomotive shed.
Bergün has developed into a popular tourist destination. The Albula railway museum, situated directly in front of the station, is considered a mecca for train enthusiasts. Through a renovation aligned with UNESCO’s conservation goals, the station area has been adapted in recent years to meet new customer needs and safety requirements.
Both in summer and winter, the fascinating section of the route from Preda to Bergün can be experienced either on foot along the railway adventure trail or on sleds along the toboggan run.
