From Basel to Neuchâtel

From the cultural city of Basel, you travel to the heart of French-speaking Switzerland. The route takes you through rolling hills, dense forests and charming towns in the Jura Mountains. Along the way, not only does the language change, but also the attitude to life – until you reach the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, where the city of Neuchâtel welcomes you with its Belle Époque flair and lakeside promenade.

UNESCO World Heritage properties along the route:

• La Chaux-de-Fonds / Le Locle – Towns built specifically for the watch industry, showcasing the development of Swiss watchmaking.

• Prehistoric Pilde Dwellings around the Alps – Bronze Age settlements preserved beneath water and wetlands.
