DIRK KOY

19.07. – 09.11.2025

A journey through past, present, and future, where city and landscape break apart and reassemble in unexpected forms. From history-laden stones to trail-blazing pixels, the Dirk Koy exhibition invites visitors to rediscover the familiar with fresh eyes, in a continuous dialogue between the physical and the virtual.

Alongside Dirk Koy, the exhibition features works by Esther Hunziker, Sabine Hertig, Andreas Gysin, and Sidi Vanetti. Together, they explore how digital tools can reframe our experience of the world in poetic and inventive ways.

Programme

-  6 September > Event: ‘Resilient Architectures’

Sascha Roesler – Stone walls and firewalls
Castles once defended us with thick stone walls, tall towers, and visible strength. Today, cities are still fortified, but their defences are harder to see. Dashboards, models, and predictive algorithms now stand guard, as we simulate responses to heatwaves, floods, and other effects of climate change. Architect and professor at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, Sascha Roesler digs into how urban resilience has shifted from stone walls to firewalls, and how data-driven systems are reshaping the way we design, protect, and inhabit the spaces we call home.

- 20 September > Time travel event

Sabine Hertig x Dirk Koy – Time-travelling between analogue and virtual worlds
A boundless playground opens up between analogue realities and digital worlds, between tangible urban environments and their virtual counterparts. Sabine Hertig and Dirk Koy will first guide us through the physical exhibition space at Castel Grande before leading us seamlessly into Exhibition³ — a virtual architectural space that is not merely a backdrop, but an active participant in their artistic inquiry, where visual narratives loop and beginnings and endings blur.

- 5 October
